Fundraisers to help veterans

VFW Post 5151 in Streamwood will hold fundraiser beginning Monday, Oct. 19, while Duffy's Sports Pub in Palatine is holding one in a couple of weeks, to help veterans. The VFW Post's Antiques, Collectibles and Crafts Bazaar is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 19 and 20, at 341 South Bartlett Road. All proceeds will used to help veterans and troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Duffy's will hold its 5th Annual Vet Fest Fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at 2070 N. Rand Road, in Palatine. Silent auctions start at noon and raffle drawings begin at 1:30 and run throughout the event. All money from the raffles, silent and live auctions goes to purchase comfort items for veterans in VA hospitals.

Meeting for Palatine District 2

Palatine Councilman Scott Lamerand will host a District 2 residents meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at village hall, 200 E. Wood St. Topics to be discussed include police and fire updates, an overview on the state of the village, Palatine's financial health and other developments. Clothier helps with fundraiser

Coldwater Creek will show its fall line of clothing during a fashion show at noon Sunday, Oct. 25, to benefit the Mount Prospect Historical Society. Tickets are now on sale for $40 for the luncheon and show, which will be held at The Wellington of Arlington, 2121 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. The event, coordinated by Coldwater Creek's Woodfield store, will begin with a cash bar at noon, followed by lunch and the show. Elements Diet & Fitness Center for Women, 106 S. Emerson St., is a major sponsor. It recruited the models from its membership and enlisted the Mount Prospect Carson Pirie Scott store to provide beauty advisers.
