Wheaton Academy's Biddle, Flynn tied for first
Seniors David Flynn and Blake Biddle each shot a 4-over-par 75 to put Wheaton Academy in second place entering Day 2 of the Class 2A boys golf championships at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University in Normal.
Flynn shot a 38 on the front nine and a 37 on the back. Biddle's front 41 was countered by a scorching 34 on the back nine.
Both Warriors are tied for first place with George Tate of Springfield, Wils Hawn of Waterloo and Mitchell Homb of Dixon.
Wheaton Academy has a 319 team score, 1 stroke behind Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin.
In Class 3A, Waubonsie Valley sits in eighth place at 322 entering today's final round at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course in Bloomington.
Hinsdale Central's Theo Lederhausen is tied for third with three golfers at 75, and teammate Dylan Lee is tied with three other golfers at 77.
Dan Stringfellow, a St. Viator senior, shot a 69 to take a 4-stroke lead and put the Lions in first place by 3 strokes over Carmel.
Waubonsie Valley's Josh Stefanski is 14th at 78.
At the girls Class AA tournament at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale, Hinsdale Central is a distant third at 330, with Normal U-High fourth at 331 and WW South next at 334.
Homewood-Flossmoor is in first place with a 301, and New Trier is second at 317.
Kris Yoo of Conant leads all individuals with a 73.
Hinsdale Central freshman Rosanna Lederhausen is 12th at 76, 1 stroke ahead of teammate Erin Ahern. WW South junior Sarah Skurla is tied for 16th at 78. Glenbard West sophomore Brooke Kochevar is tied 21st at 80 along with WW South freshman Renee Solberg.
