Outlook An inside track to the DVC title is on the line as the Panthers try to beat WW South for the first time since 2003. Last week the Panthers' defense allowed its first points in 22 quarters. It's a balanced unit led by lineman Nick Abbate, linebackers John Pullia and Chris Wahrman, and cornerback Brandon Salemi. They must slow a diverse WW South offense headed by quarterbacks Reilly O'Toole and Mack Tracey. O'Toole's thrown only two incomplete passes the last two weeks. Running back Julian Banuelos continues to sit with a sprained MCL, but Matt Rogers has 250 rushing yards in three starts behind a Rocco Ammons-led line. The Panthers' line, with Air Force-bound tackle Bobby Dunn, has paved the way for sophomore Phil Jackson to gain 400 rushing yards in two games while playing for injured Evin Natick. Quarterback Tom Traficanti is a good game manager who has one of the DVC's top playmakers in receiver Mike Carev. WW South's defense has steadily improved with lineman Matt Ives, linebackers Tom LaBelle, Mike Heaton and Jack Eshelman, and cornerback Shane Dierking.
Next week West Aurora at WW South; Glenbard North at Naperville Central.
