Mundelein (1-6, 0-4) at Zion-Benton (1-6, 0-4)
When 7:30 p.m. today
Last week Mundelein lost to Lake Zurich, 25-7; Zion-Benton lost to Warren, 42-0.
Skinny Forget the records. Zion-Benton figures to be especially fired up after blowing a 14-3 second-half lead at Mundelein last year and losing 25-14. The stunning, come-from-behind win for the offensively challenged Mustangs was their only one of the season. The Zee-Bees finished the season winless. Mundelein had scored only 3 touchdowns in its first 27 quarters of football but matched that in the fourth quarter against Z-B. Running back Kenny Jernigan (2 TDs) and quarterback Aaron Metzger (go-ahead TD and conversion), both of whom have graduated, sparked the rally. ... Mundelein has scored only 45 points (6.4 per game) - after totaling 49 last year - but has gotten TD passes from Joe DeJesus to Brian Grant each of the last two weeks. ... Mundelein and Zion-Benton each won their NSC crossover. Mundelein beat Wauconda, while Z-B blew out North Chicago.
