Hoffman Estates HS students get taste of the real automotive world

Since late August, representatives from Schaumburg Toyota/Scion have been working with senior-level automotive technology students at Hoffman Estates High School to expand their knowledge of automotive dealerships and the industry in general.

Most important, they are working to raise awareness of educational and career opportunities available to them after graduation from high school.

Student had the opportunity to speak directly with the service manager, sales manager and lead shop technician from Schaumburg Toyota/Scion, one of the largest dealerships in the country. The HEHS automotive class also received a car on loan from the dealership, and students were assigned to select approximately $5,000 in performance/cosmetic parts for the vehicle.

After the parts arrived, students followed procedures and installed 100 percent of the parts themselves, allowing students the opportunity to work with the latest technology, combined with aftermarket and performance side of the business.

The finished product.
