Outlook: With defending Silver champion Glenbard West up this week and Class 8A runner-up Hinsdale Central looming next week, York's sense of urgency is kicking in. The Dukes' running game is led by Mike DeBernardis, who's rushed for 793 yards and 9 touchdowns. After facing mostly spread offenses, this will mark the first time this season Glenbard West's stingy defense, anchored by outside linebacker Connor Loftus and middle linebacker Beau Warden, will face a power running team. For the Hilltoppers it'll be a little like looking in the mirror. Adam Bruere, Pierre Washington-Steel and Steve Jones have combined for nearly 1,200 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Seven players have rushed for touchdowns. The Hilltoppers, though, also can hit teams with a quick strike. Last week they scored on drives of one, three and six plays. Quarterback Tyler Warden has thrown for 777 yards and 9 touchdowns, including 19 catches for 328 yards and 4 touchdowns by Nick Burrello. Standout York linebacker Erik Westerberg leads the team in tackles for a third straight year.
