Outlook A three-game losing streak has turned a season with high expectations for St. Viator into one where it no longer has any margin for error. "In this sport every game is a must-win pretty much," said Viator coach Chris Kirkpatrick. "We've had a good week of practice and the kids have to perform. Obviously there's some pressure, but there are pressures in life." Marian is 6-0 for the first time since its 1993 state champion and is the surprise of the ESCC in a turnaround from a 1-8 finish, only the fifth losing season for 34th-year coach Dave Mattio. The Spartans allowed only 151 yards last week and rely on balance with RBs Jereul Taylor (330 yards, 2 TDs), Joe Hess (303, 5 TDs) and Joey Walker (248 yards) and QB John Rhode (339 yards, 3 TDs). "They just find a way to get it done," Kirkpatrick said. "Marian does a good job of hanging in there and they have a lot of confidence. It makes it hard to pinpoint any person to try to stop." Viator couldn't find the end zone last week despite 291 yards of offense as QB Julian Sipiora passed for 161 and ran for 118. "I still feel like if we play our best we can beat any team," Kirkpatrick said. "We just have to do that." Viator's win over Marian last year was only its second in 11 meetings since 1990.
