Crystal Lake South dismantles Huntley
Rarely are games decided after one series of plays.
This one was.
Utilizing a dominant offensive line and a punishing ground attack, Crystal Lake South went 63 yards on 9 runs on its initial drive of the game, which ate up 3 minutes and 27 seconds. The drive was capped by a 7-yard run by Kameron Scott, who had 43 yards on 6 carries.

The Gators scored 34 more unanswered points in posting an easy 41-0 victory over Huntley in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play at South's Ken Bruhn Field Friday night.
"We thought South's offensive line was good," said Huntley coach Steve Graves. "We didn't know they were as good as they were tonight. They just drove our linemen off the line of scrimmage. Their line was outstanding tonight."
Crystal Lake South coach Jim Stuglis praised his offensive line.
"They really clicked tonight," said Stuglis. "We wanted to run the ball on the first drive and offensive line did a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage. We were able to get the momentum early."
After pounding the ball on the ground, the Gators (7-0, 3-0) were also able to utilize a solid aerial attack. Junior quarterback Drew Ormseth completed 6-of-9 passes for 126 yards in the first half, including 2 TD passes to Alec Giles of 23 and 60 yards.
Scott scored his second rushing touchdown of the game early in the second quarter on a 3-yard run. The Gators also got rushing touchdowns from JD Barchard (4-yard run) and Ormseth (13-yard run). The Gators, who ran the ball 38 times for 236 yards, compiled 22 first downs.
Giles, who caught 3 passes for 91 yards and 2 scores also had an interception.
"We used the bigger cleats because the field was in such bad condition," said Giles. "We got good traction. I enjoy playing both offense and defense and helping the team win."
Said Stuglis: "Alec is a ball magnet. He attracts the ball. He is a good high school football player. He shows you don't have to be a giant monster to be a good player."
The South defense was also dominant, holding Huntley to 24 yards of total offense and 2 first downs.
The Gators are looking forward to next week's showdown at Cary-Grove (7-0, 4-0).
"They are still the best team in the area," said Stuglis. "I hope the game lives up to all the hype."
