Jacobs mum on Dzialo's status
Jacobs boys soccer coach Jim Dzialo was not on the sidelines Tuesday when the Golden Eagles played rival Dundee-Crown. Nor did the ninth-year coach direct his team during the Jacobs Tournament over the weekend.
Junior varsity coach A.J. Cappello led the Golden Eagles over the weekend. Because Cappello had a conflict with a graduate class Tuesday, athletic director Tom Ross stepped in to replace Dzialo for a night.
"Jim is unable to coach," Ross said of Dzialo's absence. "He was unavailable last weekend and today."
Ross answered no when asked if Dzialo has been suspended, but he did confirm that Capello will continue as acting coach until further notice. He said a decision on Dzialo's status as coach was undetermined at this time and that an announcement "would be coming in the future."
"It's a personnel issue and at this time I can't make any comment on it," Ross said.
A phone call to Dzialo's cell phone was not immediately returned Tuesday evening.
