State mortgage relief program comes to Bloomingdale

Homeowners looking to stave off foreclosure are getting some assistance from the state.

A touring mortgage relief program spurred by Gov. Pat Quinn is coming to Bloomingdale on Oct. 17. The event is being hosted by Bloomingdale Republican state Sen. Carole Pankau, Bloomingdale Republican state Rep. Franco Coladipietro and Addison Republican state Rep. Dennis Reboletti.

"There are two major components to where we go," said Brent Adams, acting secretary of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. "First, it has to be a high foreclosure area and second we partner with very engaged local elected officials."

The Bloomingdale event is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the village hall located at 201 S. Bloomingdale Road. Staffers from Adams' department, the Illinois Housing Development Authority and the Illinois Attorney General's office will be on hand to assist homeowners.

Besides foreclosure assistance, the event also will assist homeowners who may have been the victim of mortgage fraud. For more information, call (800) 532-8785 or visit idfpr.com.
