Buses getting cameras
School buses used in Gurnee District 56 will be equipped with cameras, thanks to a federal grant, U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean's office announced Thursday. The $50,639 grant, which will go to the school district and the Gurnee police department, comes from the U.S. Justice Department's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services program. District 56 officials will match the grant award to pay for the installation of more than 30 cameras on grade-school buses. The vehicles do not have cameras now.
