'Sparrow' benefits from golf outing

Friends of Home of the Sparrow expresses appreciation to all who attended its third annual "Women Fore Women" nine-hole golf outing held Monday, Sept. 21st at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington.

We are pleased to announce that the team of Voss, Jones, Clarke and Frankenburg were the winners on the front nine while back nine lowest scoring team members were Blomquist, Swail, Hendrich and McLaughlin!

Prizes were awarded to Kim Evans and Chris Valentine for their longest drives; Marie Beath and Mary Kay Gott won closest to the pin.

The "Most Honest Foursome" consolation prize winners of DeVries, Leitman, Baggett and Lacson are looking forward to their golf lesson graciously donated by Makray Pro Don Habjan and vow to be spectacular next year!

Thanks to John Barrett of Schaumburg Honda for sponsoring the putting and hole-in-one contests, the many volunteers and auctioneer Jill Davis who made things happen!

Kudos to the 100 luncheon attendees who bid on and purchased the many live and silent auction items generously donated by members of the community. A fun time was had by all!

Proceeds will benefit Home of the Sparrow, which provides emergency services of transitional housing, counseling and job-skills training to those women and children of the Northwest suburbs finding themselves in personal crisis with nowhere to go. Sparrow provides an important second chance to achieve or re-achieve emotional, economic and housing stability.

FOHS appreciates all of you who have so freely supported Sparrow in so many ways over the years. We are pleased to report that from all sources, which includes bountiful underwriting, over $100,000 was realized at this event for the furtherance of its programs. Many thanks!
