Who's the next big star? Audience can vote for Mundelein Idol
For the third time in as many years, members of the audience will choose the Mundelein Idol winner as 20 talented vocalists from throughout the suburbs compete for the title and the $200 first prize.
Contestants are of all ages. While many are from Mundelein, singers from other communities will be competing as well. The first Mundelein Idol was from Waukegan and last year's winner was from Bartlett.
Audience members get their ballots at the door. After each the contestants perform, the voting members of the audience will choose three performers to move on to the second round; the top eight vote-getters will advance. After their performances, the voting audience will select one to go on to the finals. The top three will perform one final selection, and the audience will then vote for the third annual Mundelein Idol.
The Mundelein show choirs will perform between each of the rounds. SoundFX is directed by Cory Thompson, while the Mundelein Sound and the Mundelein Lights are directed by John Neubauer. Neubauer will also host the event.
