Sour grapes from township candidate?

In her Sept. 19 letter, Kathy Salzano didn't mention that she was the defeated Democratic candidate for Addison Township Supervisor. And the reason for her overwhelming defeat in April was because she misrepresented the facts, the same as she did in her letter.

For the record, Ms. Salzano has attended about five township meetings in the last 15 years, an average of one meeting every three years, yet she professes to know all there is to know about township government. Her implication that because the township building is located in Addison that only Addison residents are served is ludicrous. I suppose that means since the highway department building is located in Wood Dale only Wood Dale roads are serviced?

Our senior and handicap ride program is second to none and we service residents in all seven communities within our township. Our food pantry and clothes closet has helped thousands from every community. We have more programs than most townships that are handled per capita, by employees whose salaries rank among the bottom half of township employees in the western suburbs.

Ms. Salzano's answer to outreach was to raise taxes to create more unnecessary programs. We do outreach the inexpensive way by attending senior meetings, town meetings, Rotary clubs, chamber meetings, Lions, Jaycees, etc., at all of which we have never seen Ms. Salzano.

Does she still hold a grudge for losing her election? In this township of more than 90,000 people, she is the only person to attend our township meeting to complain about everything. The only person. Her resentment for having lost certainly defines the quality of her character.
