Last week Marist d. Nazareth 35-14; St. Viator lost to Joliet Catholic 31-28
Outlook Viator can't afford a letdown after a shot at a historic first victory against Joliet Catholic got away. Marist's only loss is 36-32 to Carmel and it has a high-powered passing game with Western Michigan-bound QB Mike Perrish and receivers Dan Piko, Michael Skalitzky and Nick Valla. "I think when we play our best we're pretty hard to beat and we're going to have to play our best again," said Viator coach Chris Kirkpatrick. "We can't have those letdowns (like last week) or we're going to get beat." Viator also has its own prolific passing game with dual-threat QB Julian Sipiora (494 yards passing, 7 TDs; 403 rushing, 5 TDs) and WRs Jake Mastrangeli and Richard McLoughlin. Junior RB Pat O'Malley also returns from injury. "We may not get out of there until midnight," Kirkpatrick joked of the potential pass-happy game. Marist's 41-14 win last year broke Viator's four-game winning streak in the series.
