Outlook One team will even its record with a win in this Fox Valley Conference crossover. Dundee-Crown ran the ball effectively against the Knights last year on a wet field in Grayslake. Last week against McHenry (1-2) the Knights surrendered 435 total yards, including 171 rushing to a team that operates a spread offense. D-C can attack with heavy doses of tailback Danny Sharp. The elusive junior has rushed 27 times for 178 yards and has 10 receptions for 172 yards. Sharp has 2 rushing TDs and 1 receiving. The Chargers also have options in senior fullback Mateusz Drozdz (32 carries 128 yards, 1 TD) and junior Steve Schwartz (8 catches, 167 yards, 2 TDs). Grayslake North has scored 25 points this season, 22 in the opener against the first-year program from Woodstock North. It has since been outscored 55-3 by Woodstock (1-2) and McHenry. Dundee-Crown will again take the field without starting junior quarterback Tanner Kotlan, who was suspended for 2 games last Thursday for what Chargers coach Mike Davis termed "school issues." In his place will again be senior Nick Torres (5-foot-10, 165 pounds). With little preparation last week, Torres completed 11-of-29 passing attempts for 152 yards, a touchdown and an interception. His backup for the second straight week will be Schwartz. He started 2 games at quarterback last year on the sophomore level when Kotlan was injured. "I thought Nick actually did a really good job considering he got thrown in on Thursday afternoon," Davis said. "I thought he did pretty good overall. I'd feel a little bit better if we were at full strength. They've given up a lot of points but so have we (101). This should be a very competitive game. I've seen from film they've got some good players. We have some good players. It's who's not going to make any mistakes. I just want the kids to play hard the whole game." Valley Division play opens for Dundee-Crown next Friday against visiting Crystal Lake South.
