Record freshman class at BU:
Benedictine University in Lisle has enrolled a record freshman class for the fifth consecutive year. School officials say 445 freshmen began classes this fall compared to 427 who started the fall term last year. The school also welcomed 267 students who transferred from community colleges and other four-year institutions.
Free safety checks:
Senior citizens can get their cars inspected for free from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 12, by students and staff of Universal Technical Institute, 601 Regency Drive, Glendale Heights. Each car will be inspected for tire pressure, engine fluid level, belts and hoses. Some fluids will be topped off as needed thanks to NAPA Auto Parts and each driver will receive an inspection report. Glendale Heights police will inspect child seats and offer traffic safety information on impaired motorists and seat-belt requirements.
Artists wanted for show:
Artists are wanted to exhibit their work at the annual Open Fine Art Show during October and November at National University of Health Sciences Art Gallery inside Clinic Building B, 200 E.
