New events come to Summer Sunset Fest
A summertime backyard favorite is coming to the Lake in the Hills Summer Sunset Festival for the first time this year.
Beginning at noon on Sunday the fest will host a Baggo tournament allowing everyone to step up their game and show their stuff.
The fee to register is $30 per two person team. The top four teams at the end of the tournament will receive cash prizes.
Worried your game is rusty? Baggo boards will be set up during the entire festival weekend and for the small fee of $5 teams can get in some extra practice time.
Teams can register in advance for the tournament or show up early the day of.
The popular horseshoes tournament will be back again this year, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Registration begins at noon and costs $5.
Fair organizers hope that the success of the horseshoe tournament will help to make the Baggo event a real festival standout and a staple in the years to come as the Sunset fest tries to keep its lineup new and exciting.
"This is out ninth year as a festival and we've grown. Our carnival has gotten bigger and each year, whether consciously or not, we've added new things and events," fest Chairman Paul Mulcahy said.
A skateboard competition and Got Talent? talent showcase also add a little spice of variety to the mix, making this Sunset fest an affordable treat for families.
