Traffic pattern change:

The one-way traffic pattern around the Main Street cemetery in Lombard will be reversed starting Tuesday. Traffic will now travel west on West Washington south of the cemetery and east on West Washington north of the cemetery. The change in traffic flow is being made because the new brick pillar fence and street lamp and relocated utility pole obstruct the view for eastbound cars.

Students sought:

Lombard is looking for high school students to serve as representatives on several village board committees. "We are looking for students who are interested in learning more about village government," Village President William Mueller said. "The students would be invited to attend a committee meeting monthly and asked to share their ideas about the topics at hand." Interested residents may contact Carol Bauer at (630) 620-5712.

Wheaton names commander:

James F. Volpe, a 26-year veteran of the Wheaton Police Department, has been appointed investigative division commander, Chief Mark Field announced Friday. Volpe, who has been a watch commander since 2001, served in a variety of assignments with the department, including field training officer and SWAT team commander. He starts his new position Sept. 13.
