Grafton Township building will be on 2010 ballot

Voters will get to weigh in on whether Grafton Township should build a new township hall - but it won't be anytime soon. Grafton Township residents will not see the question until Nov. 2010, the next general election, McHenry County Clerk Kathy Schultz said.

Township officials submitted a ballot question to Schultz' office on Thursday.

"That's what we pushed for," said Dan Ziller, a Huntley resident who opposes the building. "The voters should have a right to decide whether they wanted to relocate and build a new building and borrow all that money to do it."

Ziller and others opposed to the building sought and obtained an injunction barring the township from building new offices.

That injunction is on appeal.
