Meeting on forest projects:

Warrenville is inviting members of the public to review and comment on two projects the DuPage Forest Preserve District is proposing for Blackwell Forest Preserve. City officials are seeking input about a proposed urban stream research center on the north side of the West Branch of the DuPage River and a possible redevelopment and expansion of the archery range at Blackwell. The meeting on both projects is at 6 p.m. today in the council chambers at city hall, 28W701 Stafford Place. For details, visit warrenville.il.us.

Beach passes on sale:

Season passes to Naperville Park District's Centennial Beach are on sale and can be used until the end of the summer season. The discounted passes, available at Centennial Beach, are $15 for residents, $25 for nonresidents, $55 for resident families and $85 for nonresident families. The beach will be open daily through Aug. 16 and on weekends only through Labor Day, Sept. 7. The change in hours is because the beach's lifeguarding staff is comprised of college and high school students who are returning to school. For details, see napervilleparks.org.

Brothers organize talent show:

Two Aurora brothers and 60 of their friends will take the stage in a Kids Talent Show at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Naperville's 95th Street Library, 3015 Cedar Glade Drive. The show benefiting the Fox Valley United Way has been planned and coordinated by 12-year-old Sriram Katragadda and his 10-year-old brother, Santan. The brothers already have raised $1,500 in ticket sales and donations and hope for a total of $2,000. The show grew out of a family trip to India last summer. "We saw a lot of people who were homeless and in need, so I decided to help people in my community who were in need," Sriram said. The brothers, who attend Indian Prairie Unit District 204's Fischer Middle School in Aurora, will emcee the event. Tickets, available at the door or at Fox Valley United Way's office at 40 W. Downer Place, Aurora, are $3 each or $10 for a family of four. For details, contact (630) 896-4636, ext. 102.
