Library open house:

The new Sugar Grove Public Library and the Janice Katherine Rich Technology Learning Center will have an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at 125 S. Municipal Drive. Visitors will be able to take self-guided tours and meet the library board and staff.

Featured artist:

Hungarian-born artist Judith Laczo's oil and soft pastel renderings of her world travels are on exhibit through Monday at West Chicago Gallery 200, 200 Main St. Laczo was also recently chosen to be included in the "Best of the Best Exhibit" at the Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook in September. Gallery 200 is open from noon to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Family golf nights:

Orchard Valley Golf Course in Aurora has introduced "Family Golf Night" on Mondays through Aug. 24 to provide golfing opportunities for parents and children at reduced rates. Tee times are available each Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. A family of four can play for $40, a family of three for $35, and a family of two for $30. Carts are available at reduced rates. BU sponsors women's summit:

Tickets go on sale Saturday for the third annual Women's Leadership Summit on Oct. 9 at Benedictine University in Lisle. Featured speakers are Arin N. Reeves, a consultant on racial and ethnic diversity; Tellabs executive Jean K. Holley; and Jennifer Hou Kwong, who overcame extraordinary challenges in her personal and professional life. Registration is $35 and available at ben.edu.

Soccer registration on:

Fox Valley Park District is accepting registration for the Kickers Soccer Club Saturday Youth League that begins play in the fall. The league is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, with children grouped by age on coed teams. Games are played on Saturdays, Sept. 12 to Oct. 24, at the Stuart Sports Complex on Jericho Road in Aurora. Fees are $50 to park district residents, $65 for nonresidents, $125 per family of three or more for residents, and $170 per family of three or more for nonresidents. The registration deadline is Aug. 15. Registration forms are available at any of the park district's community centers or may be downloaded at kickerssoccerclub.org.
