Shred documents Saturday:
Hanover Township Clerk Katy Dolan Baumer is inviting township residents to shred and recycle their old documents, 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, July 18, at Hanover Township offices, 250 S. Route 59, in Bartlett. A local shredding company will do the work, which is free to Hanover Township residents and businesses. (630) 837-0301.
"Grease" at Cutting Hall:

New Hough Street principal:
Barrington Unit School District 220 board members have appointed Lori Wilcox at the new principal of Hough Street Elementary School in Barrington. Wilcox was most recently curriculum director for grades kindergarten through eight and principal of grades four and five at Oak Grove School in Green Oaks, Ill. She will succeed Becky Gill, who has been appointed District 220's new director of curriculum and instruction. Other new District 220 principals this fall will be Irma Bates at Sunny Hill Elementary School in Carpentersville and Diane Wood at North Barrington Elementary School in North Barrington.
Roads clear for Sidewalk Days:
The Illinois Department of Transportation will cease road construction work during Barrington's 32nd annual Sidewalk Days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 23-25 in downtown Barrington. From 6 to 9 p.m. July 24, the village will also host its second "Summer Fun Friday" on South Cook Street. Roquemore, Barrington's own Rock 'n Roll band, will provide two hours of great oldies from the steps of Egg Harbor Cafe. Food and beverages will be sold by 111 Grill and Barrington Gourmet.
Super 8 open house:
The Super 8 motel at 540 Milwaukee Ave. in Prospect Heights will show off its remodeled site, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 23. Besides the 120 guest rooms, the meeting room, fitness center, lobby and business center were remodeled. It is a Wyndham Worldwide property. Call (847) 459-0545 for information.

ManorCare Health Services and state Rep. Mark Walker of Arlington Heights, will discuss benefits for veterans and their spouses at 6 p.m. July 22, at the Elk Grove Village Senior Center, 225 E. 7th Heaven in concert tonight:
The band, 7th Heaven, will play in concert tonight, Thursday at the Veterans Band Shell in Lions Memorial Park, Mount Prospect, with lead singer Keith Semple, who won the British Pop Stars competition in 2002 and joined 7th Heaven in 2006. The free concert starts at 7 p.m.; the park is at 411 S. Maple St. Bring chairs or blankets.
