Mount Prospect man charged in Roselle stabbing
Police have charged a 24-year-old Mount Prospect man with attempted murder after officials say he stabbed his girlfriend in her Roselle apartment on July 7.
Jamie Vazquez of the 2000 block of West Algonquin Road is in custody after repeatedly stabbing his girlfriend, according to Roselle Police Sgt. John Lawson.
Police responded to a 911 call from an apartment in the 500 block of North Plum Grove Road at 11:56 p.m. Officers arrived to find a 33-year-old woman with several stab wounds. Paramedics were called to the scene.
The victim told police that she was attacked by her boyfriend, who fled before police arrived. A search for Vazquez was unsuccessful, but he eventually turned himself in to Roselle police on July 8.
Vazquez was charged with aggravated battery and attempted first-degree murder.
His bond was set at $300,000. Vazquez's next court date is July 30.
