Hawks' Divizio an All-American

Hoffman Estates senior to-be lacrosse player Joe Divizio has been selected as an Adidas All-American.

Divizio, an attack player, led the Hawks in scoring and was their team captain last season. He also plays football and plans to be a pre-med major in college.

Brett Biondi of St. Viator and Jamey Silveira of Palatine were also among four Illinois players chosen as academic All-Americans.

Flying Sky High: A group of local girls volleyball players helped the Sky High club teams to successful finishes in the JVDA national tournament which ended Tuesday in Louisville.

Hannah Guth (Palatine) and Becca Haraf (Hersey) helped Sky High 17 Black finish third in the Open Division with its only loss to the eventual champions.

Sarah Hunt (Prospect) helped Sky High 16 Black take third in its Open Division. And Rachel Hunt (Prospect) and Kelly Starrenberg (Palatine) helped Sky High 17 White to a medal finish in the 17 Club Division.

BG athletic camps: Buffalo Grove High School still has openings for its second-session summer athletic camps beginning July 6 and later: wrestling (grades 3 to 12), football and girls volleyball (grades 5 to 12), swimming (grades 6 to 12) and soccer (grades K to 6). Recognition Night: The Schaumburg Flyers will have a recognition night for the Barrington High School softball team coached by Perry Peterson.

The Fillies, who won 30 or more games for the seventh straight season, will be honored on the field before the Monday, July 13 game which starts at 7:05 p.m.
