'85 Bears in South Barrington:
A charity event in South Barrington tonight will allow participants to get autographs and bowl with members of the 1985 Chicago Bears. Among the players expected are Mike Singletary, Al Harris, Emery Moorehead, Wendell Davis and possibly others. The event will be held at Pinstripes, 100 W. Higgins Road, beginning at 7 p.m. The event is in support of the Create a Change Foundation and its 2009 mission to fight juvenile diabetes and raise funds for corrective cleft palate surgeries for children. Adult admission costs $40 by prepaying at createachangefoundation.org or $45 at the door. Admission for children 12 and under is $20. Giddy up for kids rodeo:
The Little Boots Rodeo will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at 901 Leicester Road in Elk Grove Village. The event features live animals, pig races, western style activities, wagon rides, a cowboy D.J., and food. Children ages 3 to 10 years old can participate in rodeo events for $3 for Elk Grove residents and $5 for nonresidents. Events include boot race, horse race, barrel race, lasso, bronco riding, mechanical bull, cow milking, bow and arrow, pan for gold, a shooting gallery and a best dressed cowboy and cowgirl contest. Flyers start handicap seating:
The Schaumburg Flyers baseball team has announced the launch of handicap club seating at Alexian Field. The new section offers great views. Located directly behind home plate, the handicap club seating is in front of the first row. For information, call (847) 891-2255.
Music, art to fill Towne Square:
Summer Serenade will put on its sixth annual Art in the Towne Square Park from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 28, in Palatine. Professional string musicians will perform in the Towne Square gazebo, located at Smith and Palatine roads. The free event will also feature works by more than 20 local artists. Proceeds from art sales will help fund Summer Serenade's free classical music concert on July 29.
Shredder events scheduled:
The Corporate America Family Credit Union will host Shredder Day events at three branch locations throughout the suburbs on Saturday. People can bring up to three boxes of paper for shredding between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at locations in Streamwood (305A S. Bartlett Road), Elgin (2075 Big Timber Road) and Crystal Lake (625 Cog Circle). Attendees will be able to learn about identity theft, and enter a raffle to win a shredder. Games for kids and refreshments will also be available.
