New District 4 administrator:

Marcy Boyan was hired this week to serve as assistant superintendent for business in Addison Elementary District 4, beginning July 1. Boyan replaces Jon Hitcho, who accepted another position after serving as District 4's business manager since 2007. She comes to Addison after serving in Oswego's Community Unit School District 308 as director of business services for the past two years. Boyan also worked for UPS for more than 15 years, most recently as a business engineer manager.

Districts go for the gold:

Four DuPage-area park districts are finalists for National Gold Medal Awards from the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration. The winners will be announced in October in Salt Lake City. The finalists are: Fox Valley Park District for districts serving between 100,001 and 250,00 residents; Downers Grove and Lombard park districts for agencies serving between 25,001 and 50,000 residents; and Itasca Park District for systems serving less than 25,000 residents.

United Way honors donors:

United Way of the DuPage Area announced the top corporate citizens of its 2008 fundraising campaign. Kellogg Company of Elmhurst and Oak Brook took the top ranking due to a combination of employee pledges, corporate gifts and special events that raised $323,700. Other businesses honored were Park National Bank, Nationwide Insurance, First Midwest Bank of Itasca and Acxiom Corporation, which combined gave more than $650,000 to support roughly 100 health and human services programs in the DuPage area.
