Crohn's walk is today:

The 2nd annual "Take Steps" Walk, sponsored by the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, Illinois Chapter, begins at 5:30 p.m. today at Gallery Park, Patriot Boulevard and Chestnut Street in Glenview. The event includes games, music, food and a play area for kids. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. Event funds scholarships:

The Prospect Heights chapter of Dollars for Scholars will hold its annual golf outing and dinner fundraising event beginning at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Old Orchard Country Club, 700 W. Rand Road, Mount Prospect. The event for the merit-based college scholarship program is open to all levels of golfers; nongolfers can come for dinner. Cost is $175 per golfer for golf, cart, hors d'oeuvres and dinner; $75 for dinner only. For information, go to phdollarsforscholars.org.

Pizza party funds baseball:

Mount Prospect American Legion Post 525 will host a fundraiser for its legion baseball team from 5-8 p.m. today at Bogie's Restaurant, 303 Kensington Road. Cost at the door is $20 for adults 21 and older and $15 for people under 21 and includes all the pizza you can eat and soft drinks. Raffle prizes have been donated by many Mount Prospect businesses.

Kenley-Rupnow honored:

Hoffman Estates plans to rename the village's public works building after Susan Kenley-Rupnow, said Mayor William McLeod. Kenley-Rupnow died in February at 58 after a lengthy bout with cancer. She spent 20 years on the village board and championed the construction of the public works building at 2305 Pembroke Avenue. She was a member of the Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 board at the time of her death. Kenley-Rupnow was also known for her volunteer work with groups including the Boy Scouts of America and the Children's Advocacy Center.
