Addison Twp. leader wasn't 'handed' job

I just had to respond to the letter to the editor by Amy Tauchman, as she signed her letter as merely being from Glen Ellyn, thus acting as though she were some unbiased citizen looking in from the outside world. One would ask themselves: Why would someone from Glen Ellyn be interested in elected officials from Addison? Then you realize her sneaky motive when you learn that her official title is executive director of the DuPage Democratic Party.

She mistakenly stated that GOP Chairman Patrick Durante handed the job of Addison Township Supervisor to his wife when she knew full well that Kathryn Cermak-Durante had nothing handed to her because she won election to that office in 2001, 2005 and again this year by overwhelming margins.

And why, oh why, do she and other Democrats continue to remain in a state of denial by constantly defending DuPage Democrat Chairman Bob Peickert for being found guilty by the Illinois Board of Elections for improper campaign finance disclosure? She and Peickert keep making all kinds of excuses, but the fact remains that Peickert was found guilty and fined more than $2,400 by the IBE. He didn't correct a thing. He spent money in a campaign he ran in and lost to Don Puchalski and did not follow the law in telling the IBE where all the money he spent came from.

Maybe these Democratic leaders would do better spending their time explaining to the people of DuPage County why the Democrats who run this state are going to double our taxes by the end of this year. And if Peickert and Tauchman really want a two-party system, why don't they practice what they preach and help get some Republicans elected at the state level?
