Sugar Grove doings:

The village of Sugar Grove's open house and the opening day of the farmers market will be held from 8 a.m. to noon today at the Village Municipal Building, 10 Municipal Drive (off Route 30.) Food donations will be accepted for the new Sugar Grove Food Pantry. The market is open Saturdays through Sept. 26. Call (630) 466-1756.

North Aurora special meeting:

The North Aurora village board will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eden Supportive Living, 311 S. Lincolnway. It will discuss the new committee system for the board and the board's meeting schedule for the next year. It will also discuss ideas for celebrating the village's 175th anniversary.

Charity motorcycle ride:

The Elburn Lions Club will host its 10th Anniversary Motorcycle Ride Sunday. The 80-mile charity ride will begin and finish at Lions Park, 500 S. Fillmore St. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Vendors and food will be available until 4 p.m. There's a 50/50 raffle, a Poker Walk in the Park and an Ironhorse Rodeo. Proceeds support Lions' charities. Cancer survivors' party:

The cancer-care team at Delnor Hospital will join in National Cancer Survivors Day Sunday with a party at 11 a.m. at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva. Enjoy a free lunch and a Kane County Cougars baseball game. Call (630) 208-3993.

Railroad work closes road:

A segment of Roosevelt Road between Kautz and Kress roads in West Chicago will be closed for two weeks starting Monday. Union Pacific workers will be making repairs to the rail crossing. The road is expected to reopen June 22. Detours will be posted that will utilize Kirk Road to Fabyan Parkway for traffic. For more information and alerts, visit dupageco.org/dot/construction.

Free Aurora summer camps:

The Fox Valley Park District is providing free community camps for children entering grades one to five. The Summer Playgrounds Program meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays from Monday through July 24 at four park locations - Fearn Playground (1600 Hawksley Drive, North Aurora), Greene Field Park (Russell and Illinois Avenue, Aurora), Phillips Park (Moses Drive) and Waubonsie Lake Road (Kautz Road). The Neighborhood Art Extravaganza Camp is a free seven-week program run on a rotating schedule Monday through Thursday at seven different park sites. The camp will expose children to a variety of art mediums, providing opportunities to draw, paint, craft and create. Call (630) 859-8606.
