Man charged with indecency outside Schaumburg High
An Arlington Heights man was charged with public indecency outside Schaumburg High School Thursday.
David P. O'Connor, 45, of the 3900 block of Galesburg Ave., was charged with felony public indecency just after the school day ended Thursday, police said.
No students were approached or harmed, but a school staff member observed O'Connor engaged in a sex act while alone inside his vehicle, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said. Authorities said that three times within two days, O'Connor drove into the parking lot of the school, which is located next to the Schaumburg police station.
A school staff member had first reported a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot to the school resource officer Wednesday afternoon. The vehicle was observed again Thursday morning.
After Schaumburg detectives set up surveillance in the parking lot, O'Connor was arrested when the vehicle was seen in the lot again Thursday afternoon, Nebl said.
At a hearing Friday in Rolling Meadows, a judge issued O'Connor an individual recognizance bond and imposed a 24-hour curfew that allows him to leave home only for court and medical visits or to purchase food.
