Antioch wins, clinches NSC Prairie

Antioch's softball team clinched the North Suburban Conference Prairie Division championship Tuesday - without playing a divisional game.

While the Sequoits were busy beating McHenry 5-0 in nonconference action, Lakes was upending Vernon Hills 6-3.

Antioch (24-2) is 9-1 in the NSC Prairie, with only a home-and-home series with Lakes next week remaining. Vernon Hills fell to 6-4 in the division, with two divisional games against Grant left.

Against McHenry, Antioch got all the runs it needed when Ashley Mysliwiec jacked a 3-run homer in the bottom of the first inning.

Lakes 6, Vernon Hills 3: The Eagles avenged Monday's 18-5 loss, as Shannon Cooley cranked a 2-run homer and Jasmine Rivera ripped a 2-RBI double in the North Suburban Prairie contest.
