Salute Inc. fundraiser today:
Volunteers will be collecting money from 2 to 7 p.m. today in Palatine, Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect for Salute Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides financial support for military men and women. Firefighters, police officers and St. Viator High School students will set up at train stations, intersections and stores. Donation cans will also be out in certain stores throughout the month. Salute Inc.'s sixth annual walk/run will take place Saturday, May 23, in downtown Arlington Heights. For more information, go to saluteinc.org.
Salt Creek hosts wine tasting:
The Salt Creek Rural Park District will host a wine tasting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, at the Twin Lakes Recreation Area, 1200 E. Twin Lakes Drive, Palatine. The cost is $20 per person and preregistration is required. For more information, call (847) 259-6890 or go to saltcreekpd.com.

The Northwest Cultural Council Corporate Gallery invites the public to view the works of about 25 Chicago-area artists at a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 16. The gallery is located at 500 N. Hicks Road, Suite 120, Palatine. There is no admission fee and refreshments will be served.
