Grammy winner to perform
Come listen to the eclectic music of the Turtle Island Quartet at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wheaton Academy, 900 Prince Crossing Road, West Chicago. You'll hear chamber, jazz, folk, rock and world music in this fusion of the classical quartet aesthetic with contemporary American musical styles. Golf for Marklund
The 27th Annual Marklund Golf Classic is May 19 at Hilton Chicago-Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale. It includes on-the-course competitions, open bar, raffle prizes and a live auction. West Chicago's water honor
The city of West Chicago's water department earned a commendation from the Illinois Department of Public Health for achieving the highest standard of compliance with the Illinois Fluoridation Act for 2008. The amount of fluoride present in the city's water must consistently be within strict limits established by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and regulated by the state health department and Illinois Environmental Protection Agency in order to achieve the highest standard designation.
Special traffic enforcements
Illinois State Police District 2 officers will conduct traffic enforcement patrols this month in McHenry, Kane, DuPage, DeKalb and Lake Counties. Troopers will concentrate on speeding, failure to use occupant restraints and other driving offenses. Safety Belt Enforcement Zones may also be used during the program.
Marines plan golf outing
The Fox Valley Marine Corps League is seeking sponsorships and registration for its annual golf outing at noon Aug. 5 at Tamarack Golf Course, 24032 Royal Worlington Drive, Naperville. Sponsorships are available from $100 for a hole sponsor to $1,000 for a presenting sponsor. Reservations for golf and dinner cost $95; dinner only is $50.
