District 204 seats new board, selects new president
Indian Prairie Unit District 204 seated two new board members and unanimously selected a new president and vice president.
Curt Bradshaw, a four-year member of the board serving his first elected term, was named president. Three-year member Alka Tyle was elected as vice president.
Former board member John Stephens served as board president since mid-February when long-standing board member and president Mark Metzger stepped down from the post.
Bradshaw said he plans to lead the board as a team with the overall goal being consensus.
"Really it's all a team effort," Bradshaw said. "My goal is to be part of this board while achieving at the highest level possible and I think we as a team need to determine what our priorities are and keep us focused on those priorities."
Bradshaw said it was too early to decide the board's priorities given the fact that new members Dawn DeSart and Susan Rasmus were just seated Monday evening as well.
"I'm not going to presume to say what the board's priorities are. As a team we need to sit down and have a conversation about how we best move forward as a board," he said. "Right now we need to embrace two new people and two new sets of ideas and determine how we come together as a group of seven people. That's the primary goal or philosophy."
