Foreclosure seminar Saturday:

State Rep. Mark Walker of Arlington Heights will host a foreclosure seminar with the Illinois attorney general's office, Bank of America and Chase Bank from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Frontier Park, 1933 N. Kennicott Dr. in Arlington Heights. The seminar is geared toward people in pre-foreclosure or threatened with foreclosure, and will provide an overview of the process: what to expect, who to contact and scams to avoid. Funeral set for '06 Fremd grad:

Visitation for Joshua Jared Hardy, 21, will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy. in Palatine. Prayers will be said at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Road in Inverness. Burial will be at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine. Hardy was a 2006 graduate of Fremd High School in Palatine who lettered in cross country and track and field. He was a junior at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where he was double majoring in finance and accounting, with minors in technology and management and Spanish. He died of apparent natural causes in Champaign on Wednesday.

Woman cited in Bartlett crash:

A 32-year-old Streamwood woman was cited for failing to yield to traffic after Wednesday afternoon's rollover crash in Bartlett. Claudine Magallanes, of the 500 block of Wildflower Way, was cited for failing to field to yield while turning left, Bartlett police Sgt. Michael McGuigan said. Magallanes was driving a gold Lexus SUV around 2:52 p.m. south on Sutton Road and turned left with a green light on West Bartlett Road without yielding to oncoming traffic, police said. A gold Dodge car struck the Lexus, which landed on its side. Paramedics took Magallanes to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. She has a court date on May 14 in Rolling Meadows.

No one hurt in Bartlett fire:

Firefighters have ruled a Thursday morning house fire in Bartlett an accident. Firefighters were called to a home on the 200 block of Ord Court at just after 11 a.m., Bartlett police said. A crossing guard called the fire in after smelling smoke, police said. The house sustained smoke and water damage. No one was home at the time.

Cinco de Mayo fundraiser set:

The Palatine Opportunity Center's fifth annual Cinco de Mayo celebration will take place 4 to 10 p.m. today at the Twin Lakes clubhouse, 1200 E. Twin Lakes Drive. Tickets are $30 and all proceeds will benefit the center. The fundraiser will feature live music, games, prizes, a Mexican buffet, salsa lessons and a cash bar. Kids' art show opens Sunday:

More than four-dozen works of art created by children as young as 4 years old will be on display beginning Sunday, May 3, at Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg. The art was created by students at Arlington Heights' Monart Drawing Studio and instructor Ellen Sharpe, who's the only licensed Monart instructor in Illinois. The public is invited to a gala opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, and the work will be on display at the performing arts center through the month of May.
