Golf Classic: Marklund presents its 27th annual Golf Classic on Tuesday, May 19, at Hilton Chicago-Indian Lakes Resort, 250 W. Schick Road, Bloomingdale. Registration for the Marklund Golf Classic begins at 11 a.m.; lunch is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m. and the awards banquet takes place at 5:45 p.m. All golfers will have the opportunity to win $5,000 in the RAM Mechanical putting competition from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. For the second consecutive year, the golf outing has been led by co-chairmen George Webster, president of RAM Mechanical, and Bob Korvas of Bob Korvas Insurance Agency. The title sponsor for the 27th Annual Marklund Golf Classic is Porter Pipe & Supply Company of Addison. Other major sponsors are Hilton Chicago-Indian Lakes Resort and American Airlines. In addition to golf, the day's festivities will include lunch, on-the-course competitions, dinner, open bar, raffle prizes and a unique live auction of outstanding items. A special live auction item is use of a five-bedroom, two-bath houseboat on Lake Pleasant in Peoria, Ariz., 30 minutes from the Phoenix airport. Accommodating up to 10 people, the boat is equipped with a hot tub, wet bar, two barbecue grills, a full kitchen, use of two 2006 Jet Skis and a captain. Other live auction prizes are vacations in Hawaii, Mexico, Hilton Head, and Clearwater, Fla. as well as a Southwest Airline certificate, dinner aboard a private sailboat out of Monroe Harbor, weekend stays in Chicago and a 37-inch flat panel TV. The live auction will be conducted by David Goodman, owner of Auction Results in Chicago. The Marklund Golf Classic costs $550 per golfer. Golf for the Cure: The Chicagoland Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will host its first "Golf for the Cure" event on Monday, June 1 at Boulder Ridge Country Club, 350 Boulder Drive in Lake in the Hills.

The event is projected to raise $100,000 in the fight against breast cancer.

Cost is $250 and includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, lunch, beverage cart service, VIP networking dinner with two-hour open bar, and live and silent auctions. Cost for dinner only is $60. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. with shotgun start at noon.

The Chicagoland Area Affiliate is hosting "Golf for the Cure" in an effort to raise $100,000, in which 75 percent of those funds will stay in the Chicago area community and 25 percent will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure headquarters toward national research. "Golf for the Cure" is designed to provide supporters with the opportunity to join forces in the fight against breast cancer in an interactive, team environment.

The Chicagoland Area Affiliate was established in 1997 with the first Komen Chicago Race for the Cure held that same year. With the support of the signature fundraiser, Race for the Cure, the affiliate has awarded grants totaling more than $7 million locally toward the fight against breast cancer by funding grass roots breast health education, screening and treatment programs. Grants are awarded each year to hospitals and community organizations that provide innovative outreach and awareness programs for medically underserved people in the greater Chicago area. WCC Foundation: The Waubonsee Community College Foundation will hold its 22nd annual golf outing on Wednesday, June 3 at Edgebrook Golf Club, 2100 Suydam Road in Sandwich. The event raises money for scholarships at the college, increasing educational opportunities for deserving students. Golfers are invited to register as a foursome for $640 or as an individual for $160. Entry fees include 18 holes of golf with cart, as well as lunch, dinner, snacks, beverages and chances to win a variety of prizes. The registration deadline is Wednesday, May 27. Batavia Foundation: Each year, the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence awards $20,000 in grants to programs that will benefit the students of the Batavia school district and enhance the quality of education. On Friday, June 19, the Batavia Foundation will hold its 10th annual golf outing at Bliss Creek Golf Course in Sugar Grove. The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start, and will conclude with a steak dinner, awards and silent auction. They are hoping the event will sell out with approximately 100 golfers. So grab a couple of friends for a foursome, or sign up as a single. There is an early-bird special for registration before Thursday, April 30. Teresa Schueneman Memorial Golf Outing: On Friday, July 10, CPS Inc. will be sponsoring the fifth annual Teresa Schueneman Memorial Golf Outing. Over the past 5 years, the outing has nearly doubled in size and last year's donation was the largest yet. Over the past 3 years, they have sponsored organizations that provide support for breast cancer victims. This year, they have chosen the Breast Cancer Network of Strength (formerly the Y-ME) as the charity. The Breast Cancer Network of Strength, founded in 1978, is a resource for breast cancer information and services, all provided completely free of charge. After golf, join a complimentary lunch, drinks and post-golf activities that include a raffle and auction. The event will again take place at the Links at Carillon, 21200 S. Carillon Drive, just off I-55 and Weber Road in Plainfield. Cost is $100 per golfer if paid before June 1 or $110 after. This includes lunch, drinks (after golf), gift bag and event T-shirt.
