Barrington High School student charged with sex assault

Barrington Unit District 220 has suspended an 18-year-old Barrington High School student following his arrest on sexual assault charges Sunday.

Bruce Arthur Johnston of the 800 block of Roberts Road in Tower Lakes was charged with forcibly assaulting two female students in separate incidents that occurred outside school hours at a house in Barrington Hills, authorities said Monday.

Johnston was still in the custody of McHenry County police late Monday on a $150,000 bond.

He will remain suspended from classes pending the outcome of the police investigation, District 220 officials said.

The incident prompted District 220 to issue a statement reminding families of the importance of parent-student communication and a familiarity with children's whereabouts at all times.

Barrington Hills police ask members of the public for whatever help they can offer to this investigation by calling (847) 551-3006.
