Senior job club to meet:

Schaumburg, Palatine and Wheeling townships will hold their monthly senior job club at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, at Schaumburg Township hall, 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates. Friendship Village of Schaumburg and Colony Club House of Prospect Heights will be among the companies there recruiting for various open positions. All serious job seekers 45 years old and older are welcome.

License renewal offered:

Buffalo Grove-area residents can renew their driver's license or obtain a duplicate or corrected license or obtain an Illinois ID card at a special event Tuesday, April 28, at the Arboretum Club, 401 Half Day Road, Buffalo Grove. The Illinois Secretary of State Mobile Unit will be there from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To renew a driver's license, only the current license is required. Schubert's Mass in G Major:

Franz Schubert's Mass No. 2 in G Major will be presented at 7:30 p.m. tonight by the Southminster Community Chorus and the Elk Grove High School Chamber Orchestra. The concert will be held at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 917 E. Central Road, Arlington Heights. The 40-plus member chorus represents singers from across the Chicago area. Featured professional soloists are soprano Katherine Bergmann, tenor Will Thomen and baritone Myron Myers. Concert to benefit Buehler:

A fundraiser for the Palatine Buehler YMCA Strong Kids Campaign takes place 6:45 to 9:45 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St. Last year, the Strong Kids fund donated more than $250,000 through membership and programs. The band Bucket Number 6 will play. Tickets are $10 are available at the door and at Buehler, 1400 W. Northwest Hwy. For details, call Anne Springer at (847) 410-5215.

Pancakes at the firehouse:

The Prospect Heights Lions Club and fire department will hold a pancake breakfast 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the firehouse at 10 E. Camp McDonald Road. Proceeds will help with the purchase of a rescue boat. Free hearing exams will also be offered. Cost is $6, $5 for kids aged 3 to 12 and free for kids under 3. A dollar discount per ticket is offered to those who bring three cans of food for donation to the St. Alphonsus food pantry and the Wheeling Township Food drive.
