Nocella will return to lead Hoffman Estates
Mike Nocella, who retired from teaching in District 214 three years ago, said he will return for his third year as the Hoffman Estates girls basketball head coach.
The 64-year old Nocella would like to coach at least two more years.
This winter, he directed the Hawks to their second-winningest season in school history (24-4).
Before arriving at Hoffman Estates two years ago, Nocella directed Prospect's girls team to a 179-142 mark in 13 years, including two Mid-Suburban League East Division titles and three regional crowns.
At Hoffman Estates, he has a 45-12 record in two years, with an MSL West title along with a 20-0 record in four regular-season tournaments.
Nocella was a drafting teacher at Arlington High School for eight years and taught at Prospect for 24 years before retiring in 2006.
There has not been an announcement of a new Schaumburg High School girls basketball coach. Jay Colloton served as the interim coach for the final month of last season.
