Elburn American Legion Auxiliary: Everyone is invited to the Elburn American Legion Auxiliary spaghetti supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the American Legion Hall, 112 N. Main St., Elburn. All-you-can-eat spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, green salad, garlic bread, lots of desserts, coffee and punch will be served. Carryout is available. Cost is $7 or $3 for children, age 6 to12. Children, age 5 or younger, eat free. Proceeds will support community and auxiliary programs. It is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 630.
Gifford Park Association: The Gifford Park Association will host its annual membership potluck at 6 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the Lords Park Pavillion, 100 Oakwood Blvd., Elgin. Kane County Audubon Society: On Saturday, April 18, enjoy a bird walk with Kane County Audubon Society at 8 a.m. at Elsen's Hill DuPage Woods Forest Preserve, off Route 59, half-mile north of Route 38 in West Chicago. This forest preserve offers migrants and early nesters. From Route 59, go about three-quarter mile to Gary's Mill Road, turn left and go half-mile to entrance on the left. Meet in parking lot. On Saturday, April 25, enjoy a bird walk at 8 a.m. at Oakhurst Forest Preserve, on Fifth Avenue, half-mile east of Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora. St. Charles Mothers Club: The St. Charles Mothers Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 20, at Autopractor Auto Repair, 1820 Production Drive, Unit G in St. Charles. After a brief business meeting, members will be participating in a Women's Auto Clinic to learn the basics of car operation and maintenance. It should be a fun and informative meeting. Zonta Club: Join the Zonta Club of St. Charles-Geneva-Batavia at an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21 at Private Bank, 501 W. State St., Suite 101 in Geneva. Refreshments will be served. Open doors to friendships and associations with other executives and share a commitment to enhance the status of women worldwide. Batavia American Legion: The Batavia American Legion Post 504 meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Batavia VFW Post 1197 Canteen, 645 S. River St., Batavia. The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 21. The Batavia American Legion Post 504 is looking for new members. Aurora Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association: Accepting applications for its 2009 college scholarships. Any high school senior within the Tri-City area or an already enrolled college student may apply for the scholarships. Applications may be obtained at high school counselor's offices or by calling (630) 879-3744. The deadline for the receipt of the completed applications is April 21. Scholarships are announced in May with recipients receiving an invitation to the June chapter meeting.
LWV of Geneva/St. Charles: The League of Women Voters of Geneva/St. Charles will host an environmental presentation, "Energy and the Environment," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Geneva Public Library, 127 James St. It will be presented by Chuck Brown, staff physicist of Fermilab and Geneva alderman. Brown will make a short presentation on energy production and its inevitable impact on the environment. The presentation will be followed by a discussion session on steps that citizens can take to impact the new directions in energy production and the environment. Batavia Kiwanis: Batavia Kiwanis is hosting its 21st annual Batavia Youth Fundraiser with a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Riverview Banquets, 1117 N. Washington Ave., Batavia. There will be live entertainment. Dine-in is all-you-can-eat and carryout is available. They also have a variety of raffle items, including two tickets to a Cubs game. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children, age 6 to 11, and free for children 5 and younger. This is their largest fundraiser and the more people they get to attend, the more they are able to give back to the Batavia youth. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance from Kiwanis and/or Batavia High School Key Club members.
Prairie State Leather Guild: The Prairie State Leather Guild is hosting the spring leather show the weekend of April 24-26 at The Oaks Hotel, 300 S. Frontage Road, Burr Ridge. The guild has been in operation for 54 years and is the oldest guide in Illinois with 32 members presently meeting in Downers Grove. The show opens to the public at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25. The show will be an exhibit of hand-carved and tooled leather for competition comprised of clocks, pictures, horse gear, purses, jewelry, wallet, belts, gun and knife cases, and other items.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, Jim Linnell of Tandy Leather Company will instruct a "free" beginners leather class for children, age 5 (when accompanied by a parent or guardian) up to adults.

Boy Scout Troop 99: Boy Scout Troop 99 of Wayne will host its 16th annual all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Resurrection Parish on Army Trail Road at Route 59, in Wayne. The dinner will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, ice cream sundaes and beverages. Tickets are $7 or $6 for seniors, $5 for children, ages 4 to 10. Children 3 and younger get in free. Tickets may be purchased at the door for from any Troop 99 Scout. The fundraiser allows the boys to attend various campouts, purchase new equipment, and helps with monthly expenses. Boy Scout Troop 99 serves boys the communities of Wayne, Bartlett, West Chicago, Carol Stream, Hanover Park, and Bloomingdale.
North Aurora Garden Club: North Aurora Garden Club will hold a plant sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9, at the North Aurora Activity Center, Route 31 and Butterfield Road. Local plants, annuals and perennials will be available. For details, call Marilyn Clever at (630) 896-6813.
