'Ask a Lawyer' for free:

Free legal advice is available by phone Saturday in Kane County. "Ask a Lawyer Days" is a free program sponsored by the Kane County Bar Association. People can call (630) 762-1900 from 9 a.m. to noon for a consultation with a volunteer attorney. For more information, visitkanecountybar.org.

NIU hosts steel band concert:

Northern Illinois University's Steelpan Studio and the all university steel band will present its spring concert at 3 p.m. Saturday in the school of music's Boutell Memorial Concert Hall, 550 Lucinda Ave., DeKalb. The ensembles will play pieces from a variety of musical genres. Some of the selections will include arrangements by graduate students Yuko Asada, Abe Breiling and Mia Gormandy. The concert will conclude with NIU faculty member and co-director of the steel band Liam Teague's "Calypsonata." The concert is free. St. Charles hosts college fair:

St. Charles East High School will host the annual ICE Fox Valley College Fair from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the main gymnasium, 1020 Dunham Road. Students who attend Batavia, Geneva, Kaneland, St. Charles East and North and West Chicago high schools are welcome, as are any other high school students. There will be representatives from 180 colleges and universities on hand with information for students and their parents. The fair is also an opportunity for sophomores and juniors to ask questions about admissions, financial aid and programs offered by the schools. Call (630) 584-1100.

Homes to be repaired free:

Rebuilding Together Aurora has announced 25 families will receive free home repairs and modifications during the group's Rebuilding Days April 18 and 25. The home repairs will include roof replacement, electrical upgrades, new windows, plumbing work, painting, fencing and yard work. One family also will be provided with a handicapped accessible bathroom. Area residents are invited to visit the homes during the Rebuilding Day events.
