Millar the kind of watchdog Dist. 15 needs
In difficult financial times, we need intelligent leaders who have a vested interest in the performance of District 15 schools. Tim Millar has two children attending school in District 15. He has extensive business and industry background, and was so successful he now has the freedom to focus his time and energy as he wishes. Tim has chosen to direct his time, talent and intellect for public service, to ensure our children get the best education possible.
Teachers are without question the most important factor in the quality of your child's education. I have been amazed at the giftedness and talent of my children's teachers. Our teachers are world class. In order to attract and retain this kind of talent, our teachers are some of the best paid in the country, and justly deserve to be.
I looked up the role of school boards as defined by the Center for Public Education. "School boards are the education watchdog for their communities, ensuring that students get the best education for tax dollars spent," really stood out. As a parent and taxpayer, that really sums up what you should be looking for in a school board member.
The motives of Tim Millar are clear. It is not difficult to see he is purely motivated to serve the best interests of students and taxpayers. Those without children in the district, or union representatives without publicly stating so, are candidates whose motives are more difficult to discern.
I can't afford to risk voting for "foxes to watch the chicken coop." That situation in federal government caused the recession and ultimately reduced taxpayers' ability to fund education. Let's not repeat that mistake at the local level. Vote for transparency and clear motives. Vote Tim Millar.
