Fire in Batavia:

Four workers were treated at Delnor Hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire at 12:35 p.m. Monday at Team Technologies Molding, 1300 Nagel Blvd., according to the Batavia Fire Department. An injection molding machine caught fire, and was extinguished by employees and the building's sprinkler system. Firefighters from Batavia, Geneva and Fermilab confirmed the fire was out and ventilated the building. The cause has not been determined. Loss was estimated at $41,000 for the machine and $1,000 to the building. The company makes medical, dental and cosmetic items.

Roadwork in St. Charles:

The Kane County Division of Transportation will install new pavement markings on Dunham Road near Stearns Road this week. New reflectors will be installed on the temporary concrete barrier wall at the intersection. Daily lane closures will be needed. Questions can be directed to Brad Hunold at (630) 262-6177.

Scholarship applications:

Applications are being accepted for scholarships that Central DuPage Hospital's Auxiliary will award to high school, college and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in health care. To qualify, students must have plans to attend a college, university or graduate program in the fall. They also must document academic excellence, plan to pursue a career in health care and live within Central DuPage Hospital's service area. Scholarship guidelines and applications are available online at cdh.org. The completed application, personal statement, transcripts and reference letters are due today.

Buy, sell cash registers:

The Cash Register Collectors Club will hold a swap meet from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday in the back parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express, 1600 E. Main St. (Route 64) in St. Charles. Participants can buy and sell antique cash registers and cash register parts from their cars. The club will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. in the conference room of the hotel. School residency tip line:

West Aurora School District 129 has a tip line - (630) 301-5045 - to help enforce residency rules. Anyone who has information concerning nonresident students who aren't paying the $8,000 nonresident tuition are asked to provide that information. This past school year, the district discovered more than 300 nonpaying nonresidents in its schools.
