Boy Scouts more relevant than ever

Pathfinder District of Northwest Suburban Council is the Boy Scout district that includes all or part of Elk Grove Village, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park and Streamwood.

This letter's purpose is twofold. First, to remind and make you aware that Boy Scouting is still around as the leader in providing a program of comprehensive youth development both locally and worldwide. Secondly, to offer thanks in your continued recognition and support of the BSA mission.

The Boy Scouts of America has entered its 99th year as we celebrated our anniversary the second week of February 2009. Your awareness and support of the BSA will allow our committed volunteers to continue the good fight in our effort to maintain the morals, values and community based lessons that Scouting brings to our youth.

Scouting's emphasis is best measured in the Oath that our members repeat and follow regularly:

"On my honor I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight."

Great words with timeless values. Please continue to consider Boy Scouting in good favor when making decisions in your role as a member of the community. These are arduous times for everyone and only with your support will we be able to continue our second century of devotion to local youth who will "Be Prepared."

The Pathfinder District Committee: Sue Simmons, Jim Meyer, Tony Skiroock, Larry Bauer, Joe Schluep and Brian Mulcrone
