•A motorist hit a mailbox around 9 a.m. March 7 on the 200 block of Bradwell.

Palatine

• Brett A. Roberts, 35, of the 1400 block of North Ports O Call Drive, Palatine, was arrested around 4 a.m. March 9 in an apartment laundry room on the 1400 block of North Ports O Call and charged with attempted theft and criminal damage to property. Reports said he tried to pry a coin box on a washing machine, then tried to saw it off, but was arrested.

• Nida Arshad, 22, of the 1300 block of North Baldwin Court, Palatine, was arrested around 11:40 a.m. March 9 at T.J. Maxx, 1311 N. Rand Road, and charged with local ordinance retail theft of infant and toddler clothes valued at $78.

• Gloria Contreras, 42, of the 32300 block of Prairie View Lane, Lakemoor, was arrested around 2 p.m. March 9 at T.J. Maxx, 1311 N. Rand Road, and charged with felony retail theft of bedding, a sweater and a vase valued at $190.

• Vandals slashed two tires on a 2001 Ford Focus in an apartment lot on the 1100 block of Randville Drive between 8 p.m. March 8 and 8 a.m. March 9.

• Vandals smashed the rear windshield on a 2004 Ford Escape in the post office lot at 1300 E. Northwest Hwy. between 9:50 p.m. March 9 and 6:40 a.m. March 10.

Schaumburg

• Brittany L. Beeler, 18, of the 900 block of Cambia Drive, Schaumburg, was arrested around 6 p.m. March 7 at Kohl's, 171 N. Barrington Road, and charged with retail theft. Her court date is April 8.

• Theodore A. Johnstone, 63, of the 4700 block of Kingsway North, Gurnee, was arrested around 3 p.m. March 7 at Macy's in Woodfield Mall and charged with retail theft. His court date is April 21.

•Joseph A. Piraro, 60, of the 1500 block of Coventry Road, Schaumburg, was arrested around 8:05 p.m. March 4 at Costco, 1375 N. Meacham Road, and charged with five counts of theft. Reports say he took groceries and cash five times between Jan. 22 and Feb. 19. His court date is April 7.

• Thieves stole a watch valued at $4,000 delivered by FedEx around 8:55 a.m. March 7 to an apartment building on the 1300 block of Algonquin Road.

• Thieves stole a soccer bag with magic cards valued at $1,000 between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. March 6 during a magic card gathering in a ballroom at the convention center on the 1500 block of Thoreau Drive.

•Thieves stole a backpack with a digital camera and passport valued at $365 in the convention center on the 1500 block of Thoreau Drive between 1 and 1:30 a.m. March 7.
