St. Charles East to sponsor transition planning night

St. Charles East High School will host the fourth annual Post-Secondary Transition Planning Night for students with disabilities and their families from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25.

Students and families from the school districts for St. Charles, Batavia, Geneva, Kaneland, Burlington, West Chicago, U-46, and the Mid-Valley Cooperative are welcome to attend. Families can receive firsthand information from in-state and out-of-state colleges, vocational schools, adult agencies, day and residential programs, recreation and transportation service providers.

Keynote speakers will be presenting on topics for college-bound and non-college bound students. This year's program features speakers that will discuss "Government Benefits" and "Special Needs Future and Legal Planning"; "Transition for Students with Autisum Spectrum Disorders"; and advocacy, independent living, employment, educational and vocational training programs. Speakers will present in the "B" wing of East HS between 6:30 to 9 p.m. The Resource Fair will be held in the Main Commons from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

This is an excellent opportunity to gather information, ask questions and find out about admissions and specific programs that are available. Transition is a process and they highly encourage middle school and elementary school students and families to attend.
