Cary, Crystal Lake robberies may be linked
Cary and Crystal Lake Police may be searching for the same suspect after a second Walgreen's store was robbed by an armed gunman Tuesday night in Cary.
Cary police said a male walked into a Cary Walgreen's at 500 Northwest Highway at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, showed the cashier a handgun, then demanded money.
The clerk handed the money over to the gunman and he fled the store in an unknown direction, police said.
The description of the robber is he stands between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-8, and weighs between 140 to 180 pounds.
The robber was also wearing a gray knit cap, tan jacket, green shirt, blue jeans and tan work boots
Crystal Lake police officials said that description matches a suspect that robbed a Crystal Lake Walgreen's at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The suspect in the Crystal Lake robbery was listed as being a white male in his mid-50s, standing between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-8, weighing between 140 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black knit cap, dark gray jacket, black shirt and blue jeans.
He also displayed a gun to a cashier, took the cash, then fled the store in an unknown direction.
Crystal Lake and Cary police would not confirm whether the two robberies are linked.
