Local teams top cheer championships

The MSL Cheerleading Championship held Wednesday, Jan. 7, was hosted by Rolling Meadows High School.

High schools representing Distict 214 - Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove, Hersey, Prospect, Rolling Meadows and Wheeling and high schools representing District 211 - Barrington, Conant, Fremd, Hoffman Estates, Palatine and Schaumburg competed.

The competition was divided into two parts - coed and all-girl large varsity. Barrington, Elk Grove, Palatine and Wheeling are coed, the rest are all-girl large varsity.

Elk Grove took first in coed with Palatine second.

Rolling Meadows took first in all-girl large varsity with Conant second and Fremd third.

Teams were judged on a variety of skills including tumbling, stunts, dance routine, choreography, enthusiasm, jumps, voice and motions, all under IHSA criteria.

Rolling Meadows cheer squad members include: Amy Albers, Brianna Bartucci, Adriana Bock, Nicole Burkiewicz, Ashley Cali, Morgan Dahm, Nicole DAcquisto, Chloe Dewsnap, Tiffani Diaz, Allison Gudjonis, Tracy Hilbert, Stephanie Hoppel, Lauren Hutchins, Kelsey Iverson, Elyse Koutas, Akane Matsumoto, Amanda Middleton, Kristin Mrockowski, Nichole Ranieri, Shana Reed, Angelina Slota, Nicoletta Tisma, and Kelly Wilberscheid. Coaches are: Megan Marciniec, Patti Hein, and Barb Golik.
