Huntley Dist. 158 to host variety show
Beat the winter blues and attend the Huntley Unit District 158 Education Foundation's second annual variety showcase. Featuring over 100 area performers aged 5 to 86, this year's show is sure to delight the whole family.
Special guests include Abraham Lincoln as portrayed by District 158 school board member, Mike Skala and Stephen A. Douglas as portrayed by Superintendent John Burkey. School board president Shawn Green will perform with Willie Nelson and Frank Diaz de Leon, the Sun City Strutters, the Sun City Sun-Tones, Del Webb idol winner Ray Thomas and fourth-grade violinist Sofiya Kyrylyak. Sofiya is a student at Martin Elementary who performs with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and studies with Stefan Hersh at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
Filled with singing, dancing and lots of laughter, the District 158 second annual variety showcase takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15 in the Huntley High School Performing Arts Center, 13719 Harmony Road in Huntley.
Tickets include ice cream at intermission. They are $10 for adults and $8 for children, age 12 and younger. Tickets will be available at the door. The first 75 tickets also will include a $5 gift certificate to Niko's Restaurant in Huntley. One gift certificate per family please.
The box office will open at 1 p.m. All proceeds benefit the District 158 Education Foundation. In the past five years, the Education Foundation has funded $64,700 in scholarships to graduating seniors and $97,000 in classroom projects and programs. Your support is sincerely appreciated.
